Frequently Asked Questions
Honest answers to the questions people ask most — about insurance, how our programs work, and what to expect. Still have a question? Our admissions team is here: 📞 (978) 722-4325.
Do you accept insurance?
Yes — we accept Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield. Not sure if you’re covered? Our admissions team would be happy to assist in verifying your coverage over the phone. If you are not comfortable making the call please submit a contact form with your information for your benefits to be verified and a member of our team will reach out to you with more information. We do offer private pay rates as well for those who are seeking services without the support of insurances.
What happens after detox? Can I come directly to HearthWell?
Many people come to us after completing detox or even directly from their homes. We all have our own pathways into HearthWell. Every prospective client receives an individualized assessment to determine the right starting point. When someone is stepping down from detox or a hospital, we can coordinate with their team for a smooth transition into our program.
Do I have to live in sober living housing?
No. Sober living is not required to take part in our PHP or IOP. Assistance in finding sober living is completely optional. Most Sober Livings have their own admissions processes, financial responsibility, and expectations that differ from the program. If you have stable housing, you can participate while living at home.
How long is the program?
It depends on your individual needs and clinical assessment. Our model is flexible and individualized. Each client is provided individualized assessments that work in conjuction with clinical recommendation to determine appropriate length of stay.
Do you offer telehealth?
We do not offer telehealth options; we believe in-person connection is especially important in early recovery. That being said, we have flexibility in our IOP to work alongside clients seeking recovery while still maintaing home life balance, work, and family lives.
What if I relapse during treatment?
Returning to use can be part of recovery, not the end of it. We reassess together, adjust your level of care as needed, and keep supporting you.
Do you take walk-ins?
Anyone interested in touring or learning more about services should call ahead. Most of our staff is occupied in dedicating undivided attention so it is best for us to plan ahead. If anyone is in crisis please call 911 or 988 for immediate assistance.
Do you do MAT?
We coordinate directly with our prescribers to assist with medication-assisted treatment (MAT); this requires an evaluation with the provider and the client must be engaged in services within Hearthwell for any MAT services.
What is PHP?
PHP (Partial Hospitalization Program) is our most structured level of outpatient care. Clients attend treatment for several hours a day, multiple days a week, while returning home in the evenings. It provides intensive clinical support for those who need more than traditional outpatient care but do not require 24-hour supervision.
What is IOP?
IOP (Intensive Outpatient Program) offers structured treatment on a part-time schedule, allowing clients to keep up with work, school, and family responsibilities while still receiving meaningful clinical support. It is often a step down from PHP or a starting point for those who need flexible, ongoing care.
How do I know which program is right for me?
You don’t have to figure that out on your own. Every prospective client begins with an individualized assessment, and our clinical team recommends the level of care that best fits your needs. As your needs change, your level of care can step up or step down within the same program.
What is ASAM Level 2.5 and Level 2.1?
ASAM levels describe the intensity of addiction treatment. Level 2.5 corresponds to a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) and Level 2.1 corresponds to an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). These levels help match each client to the right amount of structured support based on their clinical assessment.
