Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) in Dover, NH

A Higher Level of Support Without Residential Treatment

When you need more than weekly therapy but not 24-hour care, our partial hospitalization program (PHP) offers comprehensive, structured treatment during the day — then you return to your everyday life. You’ll work alongside experienced clinicians and peers who understand the recovery journey, in a supportive, compassionate environment.

What PHP Is — and Who It's For

PHP is our most structured level of outpatient care — comprehensive daily treatment designed to build the skills, confidence, and support you need to move forward in everyday life.

PHP often fits early in treatment, when more support and structure each week can make the difference. For some, it’s a first step. For others, it’s the next step down from a hospital stay or detox — carrying that momentum into treatment that fits daily life.

What's Included

Your PHP treatment is built around a plan created for you, and includes:

  • Individualized treatment planning
  • Evidence-based group therapy
  • Individual counseling
  • Case management and recovery support
  • Relapse prevention education
  • Mental health and substance use treatment
  • Family support and care coordination

Program Schedule

Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM

Where PHP Fits in Your Care

PHP corresponds to ASAM Level 2.5 — the nationally recognized framework for matching treatment intensity to clinical need.

Because PHP is one level on HearthWell’s connected path of care, your treatment can step up or down with you as your needs change — guided by clinical assessment, without being discharged and without starting over. As you build stability, many people step down into our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP).

Getting Started

Not Sure PHP Is the Right Fit?

A confidential assessment with our admissions team will help determine the level of care that best meets your needs — you don’t have to sort that out alone.

Some people need medical support through withdrawal (detox), round-the-clock care, or emergency help before outpatient treatment is the right fit. HearthWell doesn’t provide those on-site — but if your assessment points there, you’ll get honest referral guidance and a concrete next step, not a closed door.
